Summer Camp Afternoons | Youth Artists In Residency

  • Weekly Afternoon Camps from 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

  • Ages 6-14

  • 20 participants per session

  • During our afternoon sessions, as always whenever your child is at Art Makers Outpost, they are free to create whatever they can imagine- but in these special afternoons we will pull our specialty materials & focus our exploration on some specific art forms so your young artist will have the opportunity to go more in depth with some of these special techniques while they create their masterpieces!

In collaboration with artist in resident Tony Garrett, this fully immersive musical art camp is designed to ignite and combine creativity, experimentation, beauty and sound in a fun collaborative social environment! The first half of camp will be spent learning about drumming & learning to drum- any skill level welcomed! The drumming focus will be in African rhythms on Djembe and Dundun drums as well as Afro Cuban rhythm on Conga and Bongo drums.

The second half of camp will be all about musically exploring the craft of building imaginative and functional musical instruments from a variety of recycled materials using tools, wood working, metals, plastics, and much more. Our young artists & musicians will have full access to explore our studio and materials and create and invent new sounds, explore different designs and decorating techniques to make their unique instruments come to life!
